First page is a copy of a Special Order from General Mason of Ohio directing Captain Hager, of the 14th Infantry, to proceed to the scene of the Indian attack at Cottonwood Springs to give aid to the survivors. The following pages give Hager's account of the attack, massacre, and hardships endured by the men. Includes diagram of the site of the Cottonwood Springs Massacre.
